...maybe, it is proper to really have a thread, commemorating the life of Pope Francis.
for many, i think, he is just another world leader, and of a religion that, perhaps, has been a source not of comfort to them, but of persecution and hardship.
yet, Pope Francis was a man who was devoted to compassion, devoted to a vision of Christianity that above all things valued kindness, empathy, and love.
i hope with his passing... these values will not pass with him. what are your own thoughts?

Speaking as someone who was raised Methodist (The British version that is, unrelated to the American version) I have never been fond of the Vatican,Catholicism and organized religion in general.
However; Pope Francis was clearly a top guy. Someone who tried to make reform and change and someone who clearly did care for the common man. Not the man who sat on the golden throne and looked down upon the rest of us but someone who took up on a wooden stool and stared us in the face and spoke to us one on one.
And I respect that.

i'm not a christian by any means, but Francis seemed like a real cool dude all things considered; and it seems like most people tend to agree. so may he rest in peace
that being said, i find it absolutely wild that i learned he passed away on freaking Disney + next to A Goofy Movie and Bluey!

Did you know the Pope was once given a lambo which he blessed and then sold with the profits going to charity?

>>1188737Been trying not to drown myself with news about the sad events. I've looked at a bit of it. Though.
For me, personally, I had possessed a lot of hope that the Pope's efforts at spreading peace and promoting nonviolence as a fundamental ethical principle could break through in certain 'hotspots', such as with the Israeli-Palestine conflict, given his leadership.
In a world of pain and hatred, he stood with those suffering. Out of principle. He will be missed.
