What is something media wise that just resonated with you? has touched you in a deep part of your being, or surprised you with how you reacted? something that has stuck with you since you watched it?
so i was done working on a project for the day, and i've been trying to really get myself to watch more things, to expand my repotoir and to remind myself why i want to do the things i do, etc.
and after thinking on it, i am reminded of ENA's DREAM BBQ, which i adore, and i've played through it many times, and watched the youtube series on them. it's surreal and bizzare in a way that just sings to my soul; i don't know if you are familiar with the series, but they are surrealist and wild for sure
so i then thought, maybe i should look up surrealism in what i watch next; it is one of m y favorite genres for a reason; so i decided to look up surrealist anime
and i got a whole list of them, FLCL is already my favorite show of all time; so while i could watch that again, i decided to try and find something different that ii'm not as familiar with
and after searching, i stumbled upon something called Cat Soup
it was a short 30 minute movie that's available on youtube, and it's reaaaaaally fuckin good; like the animation is on point, and the lack of dialogue and just wild visuals but also somber melancholy really hit me in the right spot
so the next recomendation was an hour and a half long video essay on the manga artist behind it, the comic series, and the short animated stint of the show. and it's really bizzare, kind of in a similar vein to pop team epic in a way
